Introducing the all-new Taos at Volkswagen of Akron Its look/size…. From the front, this all-new five-passenger SUV brings forth a handsome, modern design, both clean and classical, and void of extraneous lines that would date its look. It is presented with touches of the Tiguan, with all trims coming equipped with LED headlights, and higher trims with an additional illuminated line in the grille. The Tiguan influence can be found in the C-pillar from the side of the Taos, as well as the rear.

It boasts a boxy, mature stance, bold front end, sculpted hood and refined curves. It is presented in eight body colors and four different wheel designs.

Not quite as big as a compact SUV, the Taos is the smallest SUV VW has ever done! It measures 175.8 inches long, which is 9.3 inches shorter than the Tiguan, and a wheelbase of 105.9 inches. The all-new Taos is also 72.5 inches wide and 64.4 inches tall, resulting in a roomy passenger space measuring 99.5 cubic feet. That is just 1.6 cubic feet less than the two-row Tiguan. Occupants will enjoy 28.1 cubic feet of luggage space behind the second-row seats and 66.3 cubic feet with the second row folded. This is an extremely generous amount by class standards!

The big news….The big news for the Taos rests in its powertrain, with the 2022 model getting an all-new 1.5 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine. In addition to its increased output, it also gets better low end torque and the turbo response time has also been reduced. An extremely efficient powertrain is to be had in 2022. Thanks to advanced engineering like a variable-turbine geometry turbocharger, this vehicle makes 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, providing outstanding fuel economy on top of excellent value for the segment.

Front-wheel drive models use an eight-speed automatic transmission, resulting in quick and smooth shifts, while 4Motion all-wheel-drive models use a seven-speed DSG transmission. Power is delivered effectively with this new engine without a doubt! Balance is good thanks to a shorter wheelbase and drivers get the choice of 17-, 18- or 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels to power the road.
