VW’s hot new electric vans are making their way to the U.S. as part of a lineup that is nothing short of incredible! Photo: James Lipman While there is still some to uncover when it comes to the ID Buzz electric van, the trim levels are something that no longer need speculation! There are three variants to choose from – the Pro S, Pro S Plus and the 1st Edition, each with distinct features and plenty of perks!

The choices start with the ID Buzz Pro S, which, for 2025, will be presented with as standard 20-inch wheels, a 91-kWh battery, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, 30-color ambient light and the list goes on! As far as driver comfort and assistance features, the Pro S comes with electronic parking assistants, IQ.Drive adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, and at least one electric motor.

As an entry-level model, the only choice will be rear-wheel drive and a single electric motor, as well as a second-row bench seat that increases the van’s total capacity to seven.

One level higher – the ID Buzz Pro S Plus, and drivers get to experience more choices, specifically with the option for dual-motor all-wheel drive, taking peak output from 282 hp to 335 hp total. Those opting for the Plus will also get a second-row seat as standard but also have the opportunity to enjoy captain’s chairs, which limit total seating to six. However, those opting for 4Motion all-wheel drive get the captain’s chairs as their only choice.

This trim level also includes more equipment than the Pro S, including an expanded parking camera, head-up display for the driver, 700-watt Harman/Kardon audio system and a Euro-style manually retractable tow hitch that tucks nicely under the bumper when not in use. Other options with this trim level choice include a panoramic sunroof, as well as a Flexboard, which serves to create a flat and level load surface across the backs of the folded seats.

A special-edition Buzz is also for the asking, with the ID Buzz 1st Edition chock full of features both inside and out! Similar to the Pro S Plus, the 1st Edition is presented with both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations, along with exclusive 20-inch wheels, a two-tone paint job, special floor mats and the “coastal” light-colored “Dune” interior scheme.

This vehicle is truly “loaded,” complete with panoramic sunroof, the Flexboard, easy-open power-sliding rear doors and tailgate, the Harmon/Kardon audio system, parking cameras and the 1st Edition badging.

A variety of paint options are offered in this lineup, with fun hues like Energetic Orange, Mahi Green, Cabana Blue and more! Those wishing for the monochrome look can opt for the Deep Black Pearl paint, Candy White or Metro Silver.

These vehicles should range in price from $60,000 and higher, with the line up expected to boast a range of 220-260 miles, with rear-wheel models going even farther between charges.

Addressing what is considered a largely untapped market, the VW ID Buzz lineup not only pays homage to the iconic Type 2 Microbus, but features an all new retro design. Add to that an all-electric powertrain, fast-charging capabilities, a roomy interior and this long-awaited return is clearly a winner!

The Buzz comes with an 86.0-kWh battery pack as standard, with VW standing behind the fact that those who plug into a DC fast-charger will be able to charge from 10-80 percent in as little as 30 minutes.

Spaciousness, a plethora of infotainment and numerous Safety and Driver-Assistance features also mark this line up. That includes a diverse selection of standard and optional driver-assistant technology as well as a memory function for the self-park assist that works on pre-saved routes.
