Exterior Styling

The 2017 Touareg is available in three unique trims: the Sport w/Technology, Wolfsburg, and Executive. Exterior elements include Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, dual chrome-tipped exhaust tips, privacy glass with heat reduction, heated side mirrors, a trailer hitch, and a hands-free Easy Open liftgate. You can also choose to buy your SUV in one of several exterior colors, including Moonlight Blue Pearl, Pure White, and Deep Red Metallic.

The Sport w/Technology features 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Wolfsburg bumps that up to 20 inches. The Executive tops the list with impressive 21-inch alloy wheels. Additional features include rain-sensing intermittent wipers and LED license plate lighting on the Wolfsburg, while the Executive adds to that with power-folding mirrors.

Performance

All trims come with the same powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine that has the potential, when filled with premium fuel, to reach 280 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Additionally, you can haul all of your heavy toys with the Touareg’s ability to tow up to 7,716 pounds. EPA mileage estimates come in at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Interior Comforts

Standard convenience features include Climatronic dual-zone automatic temperature control, 40/20/40-split folding rear seats, adjustable seatbacks for extra space, and 64 cubic feet of cargo storage with the rear seats folded down. Heated leather seats and a panoramic sunroof with tilting/sliding capabilities are optional.

Additionally, the Sport w/Technology and Wolfsburg both feature a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel and eight-way power-adjustable front seats. The Executive ups the luxury with a power height-adjustable and telescoping steering wheel and 14-way power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support.

Media Systems

As far as media goes, the Touareg has plenty to keep you intrigued. It features an 8-inch touch-screen navigation system with 3D landmarks and turn-by-turn directions as well as a multi-function trip computer with vehicle diagnostics. On the entertainment side, you can relax with SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a media device interface, and an available Dynaudio premium sound system with 10 speakers.
